The best time for many students to take the SAT or ACT for the first time is June before Junior year.
However, students should plan to take the SAT or ACT two or three times, within close proximity of each other.
When should I take the SAT for the first time?
Although you may take the SAT any time starting freshman year, most students take it for the first time in the spring of their junior year and possibly retake it in the fall of their senior year.
Is the May SAT easier?
The May SAT is not actually easier, but for many students who struggled in March, it feels easier. And the students taking the March and May SAT exams tell their friends, parents, and guidance counselors that the March SAT was so hard, and the May SAT was so much easier.
What month is the easiest act?
The Early Action & Early Decision deadlines are typically November 1st, so it is essential that you take the ACT by September of your senior year to ensure your scores arrive in time.
How many times should you take the SAT?
Only the most recent 6 scores will stay on file at a time, but if you want to take it 38 times, College Board is happy to let you do so. However, while you can test as much as often as you want, I don’t recommend taking the SAT more than 4 times total.
